From Native Americans to friends and Santa himself
People have always interested me and whether painting real, imaginary, or historical subjects, I recognize the value of my early training in graphic illustration. Of course, today’s portraits are more likely to be stylized, abstracted, and treated with generous colors. I’ve done a number of commissioned portraits and they are both challenging and fun. To capture the individual without being photographic is my goal. Historical portraits like Elizabeth and Eleanor of Aquitaine evolve from my head. Whimsical people may have started as a photography. All reflect my interest in people.
